How we verify pricing

Every figure on this site is read from the vendor's own published pricing page and re-checked on a fixed schedule — twice a month, on the 1st and 15th. When we cannot confirm a figure, we do not publish it.

Why this page exists

Most comparison pages in this niche are published once and never revisited. That is why so many of them list prices that changed two years ago. Nobody is lying; the pages are simply abandoned.

We think the maintenance is the product. A table nobody keeps current is worse than no table, because a reader will act on it.

How a figure enters the site

  1. Read from the vendor's live pricing page. Not from a summary, a directory, or a vendor's own competitor comparison table.
  2. Recorded with a date and a source URL. Every figure on every page traces back to a specific vendor page.
  3. Checked against the rendered page, not the source. Pricing pages are JavaScript-rendered, and add-on charges are frequently invisible in the raw HTML. On one vendor the raw source shows four prices; the rendered page shows eighteen, including every add-on in the table.
  4. Published only if it is traceable. A price we cannot tie to a source does not go on the page.

What "twice a month" means in practice

On the 1st and 15th of each month we re-read every vendor pricing page we cite, on every product we track. Each pass produces a log recording what was checked and what changed. That log is append-only — corrections are added, never quietly edited.

What happens when a price changes

The figure is flagged as a conflict, the entity record is updated with the new value and the date it was observed, and any page citing it is rebuilt. Pages that still show the old figure fail our own checks and cannot ship.

What happens when we cannot verify something

We say so, or we leave it out. Where a vendor does not publish a figure, we write "not published" rather than estimating. Where a price sits behind a login or a sales call, we say that instead of guessing.

What we will not do

Corrections

If you find a figure that is wrong, or out of date, tell us through the contact page with the page and the date you checked it. Corrections are made and logged, not argued with.
